Monthly Merits: June

Monthly Merits is a monthly series where I recount and award the month's worthiest moments in merits.

June was a coffee-sipping month -- not in the sense that my organs craved for caffeine to function, more so in the way that I got to sit down and enjoy the bittersweet tangs of love-sent mochas within the comfort and confines of four walls without worry.

June was laidback bliss. June was companionship. June was a lovely cup of ground coffee, of which I would sip endlessly if I could.

BEST DECISION OF THE MONTH: TAKING A STEP BACK
This was inevitable considering my endless harping of ennui and and misfitting but was one of the best decisions I have made in a long long time. I took a step back from social media drastically and enjoyed life in the present -- being with loved ones, doing things I have forgotten that I loved, feeling my shoulder rise up with the obliteration of a mistakenly labeled obligation.

I stayed in bed and let extended invitations fly by, opting instead for an Orange is the New Black binge watch session. Multiply this by thirty. It was pretty awesome.

OCCASION OF THE MONTH: NINETEEN
I don't celebrate my birthday. I dislike celebrating my birthday. Correction: I don't normally celebrate my birthday, but this month, I decided to give a huge shout out to my 19th with a post I am pretty proud of.

I spent the day in a state of nonchalant bliss but with a hard-hitting realization by midnight that I am at the last year of teenagehood. I freaked out a little, but with the reassurance of a warm hug and hand, I felt okay with it by the end of the day.

FAVOURITE MOMENT OF THE MONTH: BAND-ING
Unsure whether anyone remembers but I play music, and this month, I got to prep an entire month with my church's youth band for a couple of events that occured at the end of June. Music is something I really, really, really enjoy doing and to have had an entire month to play with a group of some of my closest, most talented friends was joy.

Also, our dress code was black and white, so these group of young'uns get a huge jar of cookies.

FAVOURITE LOOK OF THE MONTH: GLOWY
So I don't know if anyone can tell, but I really like highlighters. Really really like highlighters.

Next to contouring, highlighting is probably my favourite thing to do when it comes to makeup, though I think this attribution owes itself to my inability to do anything else half-decently on the rest of my face. Highlighting has always been something I like, but thanks to a million hours of watching Jeffree Star and Nikkie Tutorials this month, I am officially highlight-obsessed.

My June was lazy -- a good kind of lazy -- and my June was revitalizing. Nothing else exciting happened, but sometimes, after a whole lot of unwanted things happening month after month, nothing happening is probably the best thing I can ask for and receive, and I'll enjoy it for now. Just for a little while.

How was your June?
