Monthly Merits is a monthly series where I recount and award the month's worthiest moments in merits.
Two weeks gone and I am back, ten days in but, hey, better late than never.
April was a discombobulated web of unexpected events, but like all webs, April is now gone, mere threads on the ground of a past that's happened. April started off quiet but ended with a bang. Here are the merits for the month that ended the first quarter.
Logic gates and PHP and Boolean Algebra were all that occupied my mind for the entire month of April as exams shuttled in at the end of the month, consequently prompting a Code Scarlet and a two-week blogging break to ensue. Two ink-less pens and a dried-up brain later, all of which were results of a thorny route, I cannot be happier that semester break has rolled around. As for the exams -- I'll think about them another time.
2. PROUDEST MOMENT OF THE MONTH: THE MAYDEN TURNED ONE
While not publicly acknowledged due to Merit #1, The Mayden turned one on the 23rd of April, an occasion I commemorated privately by reflecting on old blog posts written by a clueless hand some 365 days ago. A lot has happened and a lot has changed since the inception of this tiny little blog, but the journey I have embarked on and the identity I have carved for myself out of it has my heart welled up in pride.

Though I had announced a blog break, I was privileged to be invited to two fashion events that happened locally, the first by L'Orient and the second, a trunk show by Malaysian designer Syomir Izwa Gupta for his Eid Luxe 2016 collection. Feeling out of place amongst some of Brunei's most fashionable, I attended both in the midst of Revision Week with honour and pleasure.

4. FAVOURITE MOMENT OF THE MONTH: REUNITED WITH THE BADGERS
Back in Sixth Form, I was a debater, captain of the school's debate team. Known for our relentless pursuits of Points of Information, we proudly called ourselves the Badgers. I am more than a little attached to the Badgers -- unsurprising after having been given the title Mama Badger, so after a couple of years out of the game, I was able to reunite with two different generations of Badgers during a competition meet. It was hands down my favourite moment of the month.
I hope you had a lovely April; cheers to a good May!
