Monochrome Mustard

"I'LL STOP WEARING BLACK WHEN THEY MAKE A DARKER COLOUR," said Wednesday Addams.

I'm right there with you, child of woe, sacred sartorial speaker for all.

While my predisposition to shroud myself in Black prevails, pops of bright colours such as red and orange have been creeping their way into my outfits in recent weeks. Mustard is the mischief that splashes my canvas with colour this time round.

Abiding by the fashion law that states the colour's slenderizing power, I went for a streamlined silhouette in the form of a black button down half-tucked into leggings. Understanding that it is almost a crime to wear leggings as pants, I consciously left the back of the button down out of the neat tuck to neutralize the sacrilege committed (aka a fancy way to say let the shirt cover up my unflattering bum.)

While black is a universally appealing colour, it often falls into the danger zone of appearing flat out boring due to the uniformity of it. Antidotes to nullify this includes playing with interesting cuts and layering. My personal favourite way to offset this, however, is to slap on a humongous necklace for purposes of breaking the snoozing insipid and bringing back the drama (aka life).

What's more lively than gargantuan piece of accessory? An adorable cat-eared beanie, of course.

Slipping that onto my head though the weather and my fuzzy hair yells protests against my decision, I tied the entire look together with similarly-coloured socks and my usual platform boots.)

Because of internet down time for the past week and a half, I've missed the window for my Monthly Roundup post, so here's a quick little recap:

November was a wonderful month. I'd go to the extent to say that it has perhaps been the best month of the year so far, what with being able to be in the physical presence of my friends and loved ones, being a part of several exciting projects and being able to unleash my full-fledged fangirl persona because of Adele's release of 25. November was great, but December is going to be -- and I know this for a fact -- better.

For one, Christmas is right around the corner and I've plunged head first into Christmas party planning, choral practices and the jolly vibes of the season. For another, I will be stopping work soon and I'm gearing up to dive back into a learning environment. I've expressed my desire to go back to school many times before so I'll save you that, but ah! I'm excited for the month!

How was your November?
