Burning Gold

I am scarlet, I am gold, I am a kindled inferno.

I bid farewell to ebony as the burning hues of triumph blazons me in hell-bent fury, a cri de coeur to the trail I have set aflame as the sand trickles dry.

I am ignited, I am ablaze, I am burning gold.

It seems as if, out of my arsenal of metaphors, I pull out "Consuming Fire 2.0.6.23" the most often, though that should hardly come as a surprise since crackling crimson and avenged ashes seem to fit effortlessly into any context of my over-dramatised writing. Of all where the flames have roared, however, I don't distinctly remember writing about burning under a positive light.

Inspired by a Christina Perri song that came on shuffle -- "We're starting fires 'til our lives are burning gold" -- I thought the title suited perfectly this outfit, of which I had initially written a very short, very un-Mayden-esque post about crop tops and seasonal festivities.

While I do love the deep scarlet crop top and gold shoes that comprise this ensemble, I love the colour combination more so. At first glance, a party outfit can easily be identified from the rich hues, and the analysis would not be incorrect because this was, in fact, shot with the idea of  "Party Outfit" in mind.

I think, though, that I have made it clear enough as I have embarked on a branding journey the past few months that in this little pixelated space, nothing is ever as simple as a skim on the surface.

I shall save you a lengthy post about my conscious decision to make the upcoming year a good one as I am sure I have made it lucid enough in an earlier post this week (to which the response has been absolutely enthralling, by the way, thank you!)

When this post goes up, Christmas shall be over and we will be awaiting flares of fireworks and chiming clocks as the countdown to the New Year begins. Never have I been this excited for another cycle of 12 moons and 12 months, but this time -- this time, I am, and I will make sure to burn bright and gold as dawn breaks into flames, a phoenix of a comrade for this odyssey.

How was your Christmas? Are you excited for the new year?
